Lunches shouldn't be this hard
If you’re raising primary or high school kids, you already know the reality…
Breakfast… snack… recess… lunch… snack… dinner… dessert…
…and then you wake up and do it all again. 😅
We started The Shared Lunchbox after one too many back-and-forths about what was eaten, what was left, and what we had time to prepare. We remember thinking — there has to be an easier way.
So we did what parents do best — we started looking for solutions.
And very quickly, we realised something comforting…
We were not alone.
Families everywhere are doing their absolute best, but they’re juggling a lot:
- Time constraints
- Rising living costs
- Limited access to fresh, local produce
- Fussy eaters (with very strong opinions!)
When life is full, keeping fresh, nutritious food on hand every single day — especially in lunchbox-friendly portions — can feel really overwhelming (and incredibly frustrating!).
our approach
So…with over 20 years’ experience in early childhood education, research and management (and yes, we love food), we set out to create something that would truly help families.
We knew we couldn’t give parents more hours in the day — or ask them to spend more money.
But we could make fresh food more accessible, add variety for fussy eaters, and build a simple system that helps kids develop healthy habits.
At its heart, The Shared Lunchbox is about empowerment. We believe the best way to build lifelong healthy habits is to involve children — not just feed them.
That’s why we help even the youngest family members choose their food (with support), understand portions and food groups, and pack their lunches independently.
Because when we have autonomy, we build confidence — and confident habits last.
We’re not just filling lunchboxes.
We’re helping families create healthy routines that feel realistic and doable.
